Anvisninger.dk accelerates innovation

The new flexible format allows for the ongoing addition of more elements to the instructions, such as drawings, animations, and videos, as well as references to other sources and publications. In the long run, it also enables the integration of AI solutions and API solutions for other programs. The new format already automatically adjusts the content for phones, tablets, and computers, while the content in the instructions remains the same as always.

Since 1948, SBi instructions have been based on the physical book. Even in Anvisninger.dk, the publications have been structured like books and therefore retained the same limitations. With the new flexible format, the SBi instructions are built as websites that can be developed and improved continuously.

"We have created an entirely new digital foundation for the instructions. A new structure that is both modular and scalable, allowing for quick development, optimization, and innovation. Like a house built of LEGO blocks, where we can constantly add, remove, and adjust according to the users' needs and wishes," says Kristoffer Soelberg, Head of Innovation and Impact at BUILD.

Rethinking SBi instructions will improve quality and reduce errors in construction

The purpose of the instructions is to improve the quality of Danish construction while also reducing the number of errors, unnecessary resource usage, and thus reducing CO2 emissions. It requires new thinking if SBi instructions are to have an impact on this. The extent of errors, deficiencies, and failures in construction has not been significantly reduced over the last 15 years and still leads to large amounts of waste. It is both costly and leads to increased emissions of greenhouse gases when the errors and deficiencies need to be corrected.

"A recent analysis confirms our understanding that SBi instructions are known and widely used in the construction industry. Still, our own data shows that we need to reach much further into the industry to have even more impact. And the potential is significant," says Kristoffer Soelberg and continues:

"Our purpose is clear, and we stand on a solid knowledge base, as SBi instructions are produced by researchers based on unbiased research or experience-based knowledge. Therefore, our mission is to reach even more people in the construction industry, as well as to improve the SBi instructions as a product and optimize production speed. The need for unbiased knowledge grows as construction becomes more complex—not least due to the green transition. Therefore, we need to keep up."

New digital format for instructions

Anvisninger.dk starts with the launch of the 25 most popular directions in the new format. After this, the instructions will be continuously launched a little at a time. The instructions will continue to be printed and published as
