When Kasper Lynge Jensen takes the helm on October 1, 2024, deep insight into the industry's opportunities and challenges, combined with big ambitions for sustainability, will set the course for the Department of the Built Environment (BUILD).

Kasper takes on a great responsibility, but I am convinced his visionary leadership and commitment will drive the department forward and unlock its full potential.

Acting Dean Thomas Bak, the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Aalborg University

"For more than 20 years in business, at a GTS institute, and universities, I have focused on learning about, developing, and improving the Danish construction industry and above all buildings that affect both people and the planet. The goal is for construction to have a positive, regenerative impact on both," says Kasper Lynge Jensen.

Interdisciplinary Solutions

Kasper Lynge Jensen is transitioning from a position as Director of Healthy Buildings & Digitalization at Søren Jensen A/S and as Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Aarhus University, where he was previously also Vice-Head of Department and Development Director. He holds a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark, where he studied the economic consequences of indoor climate improvements.

The goal is for the construction industry to have a positive, regenerative impact on both people and the planet.

"My background has always been in engineering, but as an engineer, I enjoy collaborating with other professionals, such as craftsmen and architects. Today this collaboration includes many other fields such as psychology, anthropology, chemistry, biology, and economics. It’s in the interdisciplinary work that we find the solutions," explains Kasper Lynge Jensen, adding that the staff at BUILD can expect hands-on leadership combined with an innovative and ambitious approach from him.

Exactly What BUILD Needs

According to Thomas Bak, the acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University, Kasper Lynge Jensen’s experience leading interdisciplinary teams, his vast knowledge and network from several major research and development projects, his results-driven approach, and his strong strategic understanding are exactly what BUILD needs to continue its development.

"Kasper takes on a great responsibility, but I am convinced his visionary leadership and commitment will drive the department forward and unlock its full potential. We look forward to benefiting from his solid background in sustainability, indoor climate, and digitalization, as well as his innovative approach and dedication to consolidating and further developing BUILD as Denmark's largest construction research institute," elaborates Thomas Bak.

Kasper Lynge Jensen will begin as Head of Department on October 1, 2024, with his office in Aalborg. He is 47 years old and lives in Aarhus with his wife and two children.
